Wednesday, August 29 Loon Report from Mike Korkuc

Eagles, loons, and toners …

Hi all,

Monday AM, lots of sky and not much eagle. Two were reported together Sunday afternoon, first seen over Waterhouses southbound, and then chasing each other low level just south of the island.

Also Monday AM, actively feeding right at the mouth of Sucker Brook. The other adult was there too. You have to think there was something really interesting down there, but how much could they see in only about 3 feet of water.

The chicks were diving with the adults but still being fed.

A brighter morning today when I came across one adult with the chicks feeding towards the ski course. This is the only half way decent shot I got after the it came up from swimming back and forth under the boat. It surprised me being so close and I chopped its beak off a little.

This was tonight across the back of one of five boats rafted together.

Blue moon comes on Friday evening. I won’t be here to take it but would be happy to pass along a shot from someone else.

Headed for home after dropping folks off, it was a beautiful evening.
