Edgewater Social: Aug. 17, 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Edgewater Gallery, 1 Mill Street, Middlebury. If you are an artist or craftsman interested in submitting work for the show please contact Sue Potter at firstname.lastname@example.org or Justine Jackson at Justine@edgewatergallery-vt.com or by telephone at 802-458-0098. This will be an outstanding evening featuring the art of our lake artists and others who share the love of our lakes. An evening of art, music, wine and hors d’oeuvres is in store for our members and their guests, all free of charge. The show’s theme this year is simply “Lake Dunmore/Fern Lake Show” and can therefore include subjects other than lake themes. This year 10% of the proceeds of art sales submitted by lake artists will be donated to the Association, so all the more reason to participate and attend! We have just been informed by the Gallery that on Aug. 17, 10% of all sales at the Gallery, of any item, will be donated to the LDFLA Capital Campaign.
Auction News: Aug. 25, 1:00 PM. The auction will be held as a “silent auction” at this year’s Membership Picnic on Aug. 25 at 1 PM. Donations of goods and services are now being sought. Please help make this auction as fun and successful as our past auctions. The auction represents a large part of our annual fundraising efforts and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Volunteers to help solicit items and setup the auction are needed. Please contact Stephanie at: email@example.com or telephone 352-4587 to donate an item or volunteer to help.
Membership Picnic: Aug. 25, 1:00 PM at camp Songadeewin of Keewaydin. A great get together with food, beverages, and entertainment at no charge to members and their houseguests. More details are coming soon.

Lake Wise Program: Take advantage of free technical assistance through the Lake Wise Program and have your shoreland property assessed for controlling runoff and preventing erosion. The Lake Wise Program offers solutions – Best Management Practices – for managing shoreland property and making it lake-friendly for all. The landowners themselves can do most of the property improvements.
Lake Wise is a Vermont Agency of Natural Resources program offering free site visits and evaluation. A site evaluation can be scheduled for any interested landowner. Each site evaluation takes an hour and a half or two hours. Property is looked at in terms of four categories: driveways and parking, structures and septic management, recreation areas, and shoreline. If there are potential impacts on the lake from runoff, erosion or other causes, low-cost/maintenance landscaping solutions can be discussed. This is a free, no further obligation program being offered this summer by the ANR. Contact Sue Potter at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like further information or wish to schedule a site visit.
