Here’s a view of the progress of the ice as viewed looking south from Sunset Lodge yesterday.
Easier to see the ice in today’s shot after about 3 inches of snow fell this morning.
Most of the north end is still open, that’s Branbury on far side at the right edge of the picture.
Today about noon.
Bill P. hiked up to Silver Lake yesterday and reports it is frozen over. His view has Branbury in the lower right third of the picture as he looks towards Sunset Lodge.
The edge of the solid ice is in its normal position just north of the island.
This is about a third of a flock of turkeys that we see daily in the field across from the fish hatchery.
They were feeding randomly today too until I stopped to take the picture. Then they turned as one and started back towards the patch of woods on the right. My son saw them take flight as he drove by a couple days ago. A hawk made an unsuccessful pass at them and then watched from a nearby tree for a while. The turkeys remained huddled in a tight flock near the edge where they landed.
And we have a colorful finish for you, the falls in Brandon as captured by Ashley while shopping. Enjoy, Mike
